Sat 02 May
|Gialova
In past times Greeks rarely ever ate meat and never adopted the habit of drinking milk. With a cuisine built around plants ( many of them wild ) and a climate suited to a wide variety of produce, Greece is a vegan paradise with a wealth of fruits and vegetables.

About the event
Day 1 Orientation - and just a little bit of work !
From the airport we'll hit the ground running and nip to nearby Kalamata market to choose some fabulous produce for our dishes over the next couple of days. After a coffee at one of the traditional coffee shops which face the bustling market we drive through olive country to your accommodation in Methoni. There you can head to the beach or just relax and take a siesta before we regroup to head to a nearby taverna which offers a marvellous selection of local food and wine.
Day 2 Trip to the village of Kremmidia (Onions !)
We'll ease into cooking with a trip to visit Gony and make a traditional peasant Sunday feast ( served mid-afternoon ) using her grandmother's outdoor wood-burning oven as well as the indoor kitchen. Once everything is ready we'll eat our meal together…
